Athleticism, sportsmanship at whole-school athletics day

Jumping, throwing, running, hurdling – students from across the school came together to compete at ACG Tauranga’s Athletics Day this week, the first to be held on school grounds.

Embracing house spirit, students dressed in house colours and threw themselves into events to gain points towards the year-long house competition.

Te Awanui took out the primary relay, while Mauao won the senior race.

PE teacher Ben Howell said it was great to see students embracing school spirit, and challenging and expressing themselves in a physical nature outside the classroom.

“The highlight was seeing the excitement and enthusiasm of the students as they gave it their all. It was a really good day for us all.”

A special thank you to the Tauranga Ramblers athletics volunteers, parents and wider school community for supporting our students in the event.
