Jo grew up in Mount Maunganui before moving away to study pure and applied mathematics at Massey University. This led to a position at the university as a Liaison and Recruitment advisor providing career and course advice, as well as assisting students to transition from high school to tertiary study.
Ten years ago, having gained her teaching qualification, Jo then embarked on a new career as a specialist mathematics teacher. She has worked in schools in Whakatane and Auckland, most recently employed as the Assistant Head of Faculty at Long Bay College. Jo is a passionate mathematician who has the ability to teach both pure maths and statistics. She has also been part of the World Challenge programme which involves taking students for a month long expedition through Cambodia and Vietnam.
Jo holds a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from Massey University and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education from Tauranga’s Bethlehem Tertiary Institute.
