Leana Buxton

Both art teacher and successful artist, Leana taught at Tauranga Boys College for three years from 2007, and since then has been working as a practising artist. She has completed many commissions and has participated in several exhibitions, including the Miles Art Award exhibition at Tauranga Art Gallery.

Leana enables her students to engage with every facet of art, across many different mediums. Her teaching builds students’ understanding of art, the creative process and how it is relevant to their past, their culture and the world before them. While abstract painting is Leana’s own passion, she thoroughly enjoys working across all mediums and takes great pleasure in seeing her students develop their own love of art.

Leana holds a Bachelor of Media Arts from Wintec in Hamilton and a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching from the University of Waikato.
